NotesThis paper is about the transfer of small particles of organic matter from a river into the ocean, and how understanding these processes can help a larger understanding of global geochemical cycles. The Alsea is contrasted with the Santa Clara River system. Interestingly, organic matter from the Alsea was modern (less than 60 years old), in contrast to other systems studied.
