Notes | Tests rule for predicting rate of erosion into bedrock in the Siuslaw, Umpqua and Alsea basins. Steeper slopes deviated from the rule, probably due to debris flows scouring tributaries. Results suggest three mechanisms for bedrock erosion: vertical wearing; debris flow scouring; and sharp changes in channel slope (knickpoint propagation). |
