NotesThis study, part of the Alsea Watershed Study on the effects of logging on fish, establishes a baseline for food consumption by juvenile salmonids in three streams in the Alsea Watershed. The study was conducted before the Deer Creek and Needle Branch watersheds were logged. Diptera were the most important food item by dry weight. Interestingly, fish in Needle Branch fed mainly on terrestrial items, rather than the aquatic items preferred in the other streams. Major professor was R. E. Dimick.
