Notes | Alexander R. McLeod's "Journal of a Trapping Expedition along the Coast South of the Columbia in charge of A.R. mcLeod C. T., Summer 1826," was published as a section of Ogden's Snake Country Journal. On July 4, 1826, McLeod reached the Alsea River "call'd by the natives Alciyeh" (p.161), and camped in the area for several days, hunting and trapping beaver and sea otter. McLeod also explored the Yaquina River, Beaver Creek and on down to the Siuslaw River. Includes map in pocket. |
