NotesChinook salmon in the Alsea Basin were tagged in the fall of 1951. Researchers estimated the 1951 Alsea Chinook salmon population at slightly over 5,000 fish, with an estimated fishing mortality of 44%. This is much higher than the estimated 15% mortality for coho salmon on that river.
