Notes | A classic early list of Oregon birds, this publication suffers from its over-emphasis on the Willamette Valley. Outside contributors, rather than the author, supply most observations from the rest of the state. Entries for Tillamook bays are lumped together as "Tillamook County." Nevertheless, it is interesting and a bit sad to read a local note that around 1902 there were 10 pairs of bald eagles on the Yaquina River, "but their increase is most effectually stopped by the constant killing of young birds by local sportsmen."
