This report summarizes modest improvements in downstream transportation “at the higher stages” of river water from the head of tide on the Alsea to the mouth. Improvements consisted of the “removal of rocks and other obstructions.” “A contract for this work, which can only be done during low water, was made February 10, 1897, and the contractor has just commenced active operations.” In Google Books.
