NotesIn 1954, the Oregon State Game Commission asked the Oregon Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit at Oregon State College to investigate best practices for managing the steelhead trout fishery in Oregon, and to evaluate the State hatchery steelhead program. This thesis addresses the fifth year of that study. “During the winter of 1958-1959, an investigation was conducted to estimate the number of wild and marked, hatchery-reared steelhead trout, Salmo gairdnerii gairdnerii Richardson, returning to the Alsea River, Oregon. The objective was to determine the returns of the 1956 hatchery release and the experimental release of 1957.” (from the Absstract) BW photographs. Major professor was R. E. Dimick.
