NotesAnalyzed presence of nitrous oxide in Alsea Estuary and tributaries from July-October, 1979. Most of the study took place before the fall rains began and found the primary source of nitrogen to be summer upwelling of nutrient-rich waters. Dissolved nitrous oxide concentrations spiked in some upstream locations after the fall rains began --in farmed valleys in which cultivation and grazing took place.
